When I first started this journey, my primary focus was weight loss. About 4 – 5 days in to my challenge, I quickly realized this was much, much, more. It became personal and I understood this was a total transformation of mind, body, and spirit.As a single mom with two young children and a full time job, I was constantly overwhelmed and exhausted. I struggled daily to find the energy required to keep up with simple tasks. I was tired of my daily battle with food, sweets in particular. I felt powerless to my cravings and disappointed that every evening I was once again telling myself “I’ll start my diet tomorrow”. It never happened. I was sinking fast – my weight kept creeping up and my feelings of despair intensified. This system empowered me – it opened my eyes to the realization that health is much more than being thin and I removed “diet” from my vocabulary. Within the first week, my energy levels increased, and my moods stabilized. What a blessing for my children. They have benefited from these changes much more than me! My attitude toward food changed. I now see it as fuel for my body and mind. It is something to be enjoyed. I was never able to truly enjoy meals. Eating healthy, especially vegetables, with the right combination of protein and carbs, leave me feeling satisfied. I will be turning 40 in May, and I am committed to be being healthy and achieving my goal weight of 150 lbs when I reach that milestone.
