I wanted to stop in because I know this is the time. We’re at November 26 and just a month away from Christmas day, and you know what’s coming, right its probably already started? The stress of the holidays. And I don’t know about you, but sometimes it can happen to the best of us, we start to feel anxious at this time of the year. We start to stress out. We get more headaches. We maybe feeling ….well just an overwhelming feeling, so I wanted to give you a few tips to kind of get you through the holiday stress.
A couple of things to think about with stress on the holidays. Number one, you gals take care of yourself first, because this is a really busy time, especially for us women because we’re juggling everything. We’re trying to manage our careers. We’re taking care of the kids. Yes, our husbands are there helping us, but we know we take on a lot of that ourselves, so make sure you’re taking … Number one tip, take some time out for yourself. I recommend, probably in the next week or two, going for a massage or a pedicure, a manicure, just making yourself feel really good, okay?
The other thing is make sure you keep your finances in order you guys. This is … I remember the days with my kids. It was so easy to see those credit card bills starting to pile up, so don’t get yourself into that. Really set a budget. I know in our family we just … It’s about the kids. Christmas is about the kids. Who needs more stuff? I know I don’t need anymore stuff. So with my friends, I share Christmas cards. And with family, sending Christmas cards back home. I mean honestly, that’s all we really need. This is about spending time together and enjoying time together. So number two, watch your finances.
Number three, family. Sometimes you have those family members that kind of show up, and there’s a little bit of tension. What you need to do is prep way beforehand you guys. Remember, this is all about being grateful. This is the time to be … I like the holidays for that reason. It reminds us. Every time a holiday comes up, it reminds us to be grateful for where we are, what we have, the family that are here. Because, you know, in an instant … honestly, I wish my mum and dad were still here. It would be so nice to spend time with them, but I at least take the time to think about them. So make sure … Think about those family members that drive you crazy, I mean really honestly just really take some time, and look at them, and see them for who they are, and just love them where they’re at. Okay? So that’s number three.
Let’s see. Number four, make sure you’re getting your exercise in. When we’re stressed out, we start to carry tension in our bodies, and it starts to get trapped, so you start to feel the aches in the shoulders, and you might get some pain in the hips. Those are indicators that there’s stress in your body and it needs to be released. And the best way to do that, go out and get some fresh air. Get outside when you can, when the weather’s good, otherwise get your gym workout in, whatever works for you, or go dancing, whatever it is, but you want to really move that energy so it clears out of your body, right? And we’re not carrying it around. That way we’re a nice clear, open channel, right? You know, just to have a great life.
The other thing is prepare before you go to parties. I know for me, I like to have a little bit of protein. Before I go, I have my protein shake. I even just do a half one before I’m going for a dinner. But if it’s an evening of drinks, and it’s so easy to just keep reaching and eating, so really be mindful of what you’re putting into your body because this is the time of the year everyone puts on five to 12 pounds if they’re not paying attention. So really pay attention to that, and don’t get caught up in this whole, “I’ll just worry about my health in the new year.” Don’t do that. Don’t get on that train. Don’t get on that gravy train. Start worrying about your health now. I’m doing that for myself. I’m making sure I’ve scheduled it in my workouts. Make sure you’re scheduling in. I talked about this yesterday, making sure you’re taking time for yourself, so that includes your workouts. Schedule it in.
And my final one is really just take the time to enjoy the holidays. Maybe take 10 minutes out of your day, every day, especially for the next month, 10 minutes of meditation. And okay, for those of you that don’t mediate, just take 10 minutes to just focus in on your breathing, close your eyes, clear your mind, send an intention for this next 30 … Is it 30? What day are we on? 22nd, so we’ve got 32 more days until Christmas, so you want to really enjoy that, and you don’t want to be stressed out. Okay?
